It's easy to get lost in the endless scrolling of picture perfect weddings - enter bridezilla panic! But planning your wedding stationery doesn't have to be overwhelming or exhausting. You really don't need everything, so here's a thoughtful guide to wedding stationery. For brides (and grooms, we see you!) everywhere.
Save the Date and Invitations
You need a way to announce your wedding to your guests. Here are two common ways to go about it:
- A save the date card sent 12–18 months in advance, followed by an invitation 3–6 months before the wedding
- A wedding invitation sent on its own around 6–8 months in advance
This is the very first glimpse of your celebration. It should reflect the vibe of your wedding from the very beginning.
Is it a casual beach wedding, a classic black tie event or a city chic celebration? Let that guide your aesthetic, then carry those details through the entire wedding day. Choose a wedding collection and stick to it. It creates a cohesive feeling and makes decisions much easier along the way.
On the day stationery
Stationery is a great way to create an atmosphere at your venue and gives guests a sense of what to expect.
Here are the pieces we personally feel are the essentials:
- Ceremony program
A lovely way for guests to follow along during the ceremony. Include songs, hymns, names of the bridal party and your officiant.
- Welcome sign at the venue
One of our favourites! A welcome sign instantly sets the tone when guests arrive at the venue. Place it on an easel and decorate it with flowers for an extra thoughtful touch.
- Seating chart
Helps guests find their seats and see who they will be sitting with before dinner begins. Also a great excuse for mingling.
- Menu cards and placement cards
These pieces do more than you think.
They shape the feeling of the table setting and make everything feel considered and personal. And there is something special about seeing your own name beautifully printed at your seat. Many guests even bring them home as little keepsakes.
Thank you note
Receiving a thank you note in the mail a few months after the wedding is such a lovely gesture.
A beautiful photo from the day together with a personal greeting becomes something guests often keep for years.
But if you do want everything....
Off course go can go all in on the wonderful world of wedding stationery. There can be signs, cards, paper details and little moments everywhere.
Necessary? Maybe not. Fun? Absolutely!
